USTA Leagues

Mercy HealthPlex offers USTA Adult Teams for members at the 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 Ladies, 4.0 Mens and 8.0 Mixed Doubles levels.

Teams begin matches Friday, September 16 and will continue through Saturday, December 17. The fee for each match is $14 which includes balls, court time and light refreshments.

NOTE: A USTA membership is required for team participants. The one-year adult membership fee is $40. If you are not a USTA member please go to usta.com to enroll. The league uses a “Dynamic” NTRP rating system, which requires a self-rating. New players who did not play in the 2010 or 2011 USTA seasons are required to input their rating when registering for USTA league play. It is recommended that a player self rate .5-1.0 lower than their HealthPlex or Inter-club rating since the USTA is on a national rating system.

For more information, contact Gretchen McKnight at (513) 624-1880 or gxmcknight@health-partners.org.

SINGLES AND DOUBLES LEAGUES
The League Program provides weekly competitive round-robin play in both singles and doubles for members at 5 different NTRP levels (2.5 and up). Each doubles league meets once a week for 10 weeks followed by a 4 week playoff. Doubles leagues are on a fixed partner basis. Singles leagues meet for 12 weeks.

Each league player receives a schedule and set of rules. Balls are provided for each match. Substitution lists are provided for the convenience of doubles league players. Players in singles leagues may reschedule matches if necessary. Players record scores each week and awards are presented to league winners at the end of each session. Please refer to the league rules for complete guidelines.

Confirmation of your league will be made by email two days prior to the start of your league. Schedules will be emailed before the first match. Please contact Gretchen McKnight, for further information at (513) 624-1880 or gxmcknight@health-partners.org.

SINGLES FLEX-TIME LEAGUES

Leagues include: Women's Daytime Flex, Women's Career Flex, Men's 3.5/4.0 and Men's 4.5+.

Adult Instructional Programs

The Adult Instructional Program offers 5 skill levels. Lessons are grouped using the NTRP system. The following descriptions will help the student choose the correct class level:

1.0-2.0 (beginner) Student has played some tennis but needs instruction on basic techniques.

2.1-2.5 (advanced beginner) Student is learning to keep the ball in play but needs to improve court positioning and consistency.

2.6-3.4 (lower intermediate) Student can play singles and doubles but needs to improve net play and basic tactics.

3.5-4.0 (advanced intermediate) Student is developing the use of lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys and is seldom out of position in singles or doubles.

4.5-5.0 (advanced) Student has begun to hit with power, spin, depth and control. The serve can be a weapon, and he/she can move into a net position with some success in singles and doubles. This player participates on a regular basis in competitive tennis programs.
