Mercy Health recognizes the tremendous value all of our employees bring to our organization. We believe that recruiting and retaining outstanding associates is crucial to our success. Within Mercy Health, we offer numerous opportunities not only for nurses, pharmacists, technicians and physicians, but also for support staff of all kinds, as well as senior leaders, administrators and managers.
Tobacco users need not apply. Mercy Health is committed to improving the health of the communities we serve and to promoting the health and well-being of our employees. To support our commitment, it is the policy of Mercy Health that we will only hire individuals who do not engage in the use of tobacco products. Testing for nicotine will be conducted as a part of the preplacement examination and all offers of employment are subject to satisfactorily completing the preemployment process. To test negative, individuals must refrain from tobacco use and/or nicotine replacement products (ie: Nicorette Gum or Mint, the Patch, smokeless cigarettes etc.) for 90 days.
We Live Our Mission and Values
Our mission and core values are far more than just words; in fact, they guide us in all that we do. Our values of Compassion, Excellence, Human Dignity, Justice, Sacredness of Life and Service challenge us to make a difference in the lives of those we serve; to be ever mindful of the importance of our healing ministry, to be guided by higher ideals in our governance, strategies, daily decision-making and to embrace diversity and inclusion.
We Live Our Promise to All Patients and Visitors
We promise to make each and every patient’s life better – mind, body and spirit.
We enjoy being of service to our patients, residents, guests, community and one another.
We make healthcare easy so our patients can enjoy their lives
We Care about Our Associates’ Opinions
At Mercy Health, we continuously work to evolve our culture by building trusting relationships with our employees, responding to their opinions, providing structured opportunities and solving workplace problems should they arise.
We survey associates annually to assess their satisfaction and to identify areas where they believe improvement is needed. The survey includes questions about whether associates receive enough recognition for their accomplishments, whether their supervisors listen to their ideas, whether they and their colleagues demonstrate core values in their daily work and whether they feel valued.
To help managers improve their leadership skills and supervisory relationships, we distribute an annual confidential survey that enables employees to give their managers anonymous feedback. Managers are not rewarded or penalized based on their survey results, but learn more about how they interact with those they supervise and are enabled to set development goals for improvement, as necessary.

We Live Our Commitment to Diversity
We are working to integrate our commitment to diversity and inclusion into all that we do and are striving to align our daily behaviors with that commitment. Our annual associate survey provides an opportunity to assess how effectively that commitment is being demonstrated in the workplace. We also regularly assess our effectiveness in recruiting diverse associates at all levels of the organization, as well as our board members.
In addition, Mercy Health's Diversity Council, which is made up of a diverse cross section of employees, generates ideas and activities for continually improving diversity and inclusion education. Mercy Health participates in numerous events and supports foundations that align with our goals of tolerance and improving the lives for those we serve. Just some of the events, sponsorships and foundations we help support include:

We Provide Opportunities for Career Growth and Development
Mercy Health provides a variety of traditional and online learning opportunities so that employees can readily acquire new skills and knowledge, build competencies, and obtain degrees, certifications and continuing education credits. We also help managers strengthen their coaching skills so that they can coach the associates they supervise to greater success. The numerous system-wide conferences and seminars that our home office provides offer learning opportunities that enable associates to trade ideas, solutions and best practices with each other.
